After securing their eighth consecutive win, this one at the expense of El Geish, El Zamalek boosted hopes of an Egyptian domestic football league title, their first since 2004. We can proudly declare that after 20 games El Zamalek have 36 points occupying the second place in the league, seven points behind league leaders and arch-rivals Al Ahly.
we go back and by the end of 2009, El Zamalek found themselves in the extraordinary situation of being relegated to the second division, however, under Coach Hossam Hassan, their third this season, their fortunes have swung dramatically. Although Al Ahly remains favorites to win a sixth consecutive league title, El Zamalek’s sudden resurgence must be of some concern to the famed red shirts.
The Cairo giants once again produced a ruthless display to overcome a stubborn Petrojet with a 3-2 win in Suez on Sunday then they come back to win El Geish on Thursday.
remark that should be highlighted:
Hussein Yasser, who joined Zamalek as a free agent from Al Ahly in January, made his second start after putting in some fine displays off the bench. He played alongside Shikabala to support lone striker Ahmed Gaafar, the only reliable striker at Hassan's disposal. After Petrojet match, it's Yasser second 90 minutes and he deserves to be the best player in the match.
